CECIMO, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries and related Manufacturing Technologies, have released a report looking at the most common misconceptions about Additive Manufacturing (AM).
Anyone working in the AM sector has spoken at least once with a public or private stakeholder who have significantly underestimated or exaggerated the capabilities of AM.
For this reason, the CECIMO report sets out to address the most common misconceptions about AM with the goal being to raise awareness of the true capabilities of the technology.
The four misconceptions tackled in this document are:
- AM will replace conventional manufacturing
- 3D printers can create only small parts
- Everything can be 3D printed
- The growth of AM will bring more IPR infringements
