The UK additive manufacturing industry takes centre stage at Formnext 2026

In just over a month, Additive Manufacturing UK (AMUK) will represent the UK at Formnext 2026 in Germany, where more than 30 UK organisations will showcase their latest innovative products, services and technologies. The UK has been selected as the official partner country at this leading exhibition for additive manufacturing, industrial 3D printing and the next generation of intelligent manufacturing solutions. Held in Frankfurt from 17–20 November 2026, Formnext provides AMUK and its members with a unique opportunity to showcase the strength, diversity and innovation of the UK’s additive manufacturing sector to an international audience.

Each year Formnext selects a partner country following a comprehensive assessment of global additive manufacturing activity across a number of countries. This takes into account factors such as the size of the AM industry, user industries, and the scale of research, development and innovation. The designation recognises a country with a rapidly expanding additive manufacturing market, supported by a dynamic and well-connected industry community.

Earlier this year, the organisers announced the UK as the official partner country for the 2026 exhibition. As the UK’s only trade body dedicated to representing companies across the additive manufacturing sector, AMUK will use this high-profile international platform to showcase the breadth of innovation, expertise and capability within the UK’s additive manufacturing industry.

AMUK’s membership spans the entire additive manufacturing value chain, from materials and equipment manufacturers through to part production, finishing and post-processing. This breadth reflects the depth and diversity of the UK’s capabilities and the strength of its additive manufacturing ecosystem.

Formnext brings together more than 800 exhibitors representing every stage of the additive manufacturing process chain, with 61% of participants coming from international companies. Over the four-day event, more than 34,000 visitors from across key manufacturing sectors are expected to attend, with around half travelling from outside Germany. The UK has the third-highest number of international visitors to Formnext, highlighting the growth of additive manufacturing in the UK.

Over 30 UK-based organisations will exhibit within the AMUK Pavilion, making it the fourth-largest national presence at the event, behind Germany, the USA and China. The pavilion provides a fantastic opportunity for these companies to highlight their diverse range of cutting-edge products, technologies and solutions as well as feature live demonstrations. The exhibitors include Added Scientific, Cambridge Sensotec, the University of Wolverhampton, Fastech Engineering, Hydra Manufacturing and Additive Companion.

Joshua Dugdale, Head of AMUK, said: “Our partnership with Formnext provides an important opportunity to showcase the strength and diversity of the UK’s additive manufacturing sector on an international stage. It will enable our members to connect with global industry leaders, explore new markets and build new opportunities for international collaboration. I would encourage all AMUK members and the wider additive manufacturing community to visit Formnext and the AMUK pavilion in November. We are offering free tickets to the exhibition, so anyone interested in attending please contact me or the AMUK team for further information.”
