UK’s leading additive manufacturing trade association welcomes new chair

Additive Manufacturing UK (AMUK), the UK’s leading trade association representing the additive manufacturing and 3D printing sectors, has appointed Craig Pyser, CEO of AMufacture, as its new chair. The announcement follows the departure of outgoing chair Stewart Lane, who stepped down in April to concentrate on his duties as Vice President of the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) – AMUK’s parent organisation.

As Head of Business Development – EMEA at engineering and scientific technologies business Renishaw, Lane has served as AMUK’s chair since 2022, helping to oversee the successful integration of AMUK into the MTA’s cluster of trade associations and events. On leaving, he recommended Pyser as his successor, citing his extensive experience, close industry connections and thorough knowledge of the association.

Lane commented: “Serving as AMUK’s chair during a pivotal chapter in the association’s history has been a privilege. Now that the merger of AMUK and the MTA has been completed, I feel the time is right to hand over responsibilities to someone closer to the industry who can lead AMUK and take it to the next level.”

“Craig’s expertise and experience make him the ideal candidate. I urge all AMUK members to join me in thanking Craig and wishing him the best in his new position.”

Pyser is the CEO and co-founder of AMufacture, a leading private equity-backed contract manufacturer specialising in industrial 3D printing and additive manufacturing. He established the business back in 2018 following a prosperous career in the investment banking sector. Today, he and the AMufacture team provide clients with best-in-class 3D printing services powered by cutting-edge technology, including the UK’s first HP 5620 printers.

Pyser said: “I am honoured to serve as AMUK’s new chair. Having been involved in the 3D printing and additive manufacturing industry for many years, I relish the opportunity to play a key role in shaping its future – and chairing AMUK enables me to do that.”

“I’d like to thank Stewart for his enduring dedication and contributions to our association over the years.”

Established in 2014, AMUK aims to establish the UK as a world leader in the development and adoption of additive and 3D printing technology. Championing the interests of organisations that operate within the additive and 3D printing ecosystem, the association delivers a range of key benefits for its membership designed to drive the industry forward.

Josh Dugdale, Head of AMUK, expressed his enthusiasm about Pyser’s appointment, remarking: “Craig has enjoyed a long career at the forefront of the additive manufacturing sector. His expertise and industry knowledge are truly unmatched, and I look forward to seeing what our association can achieve under his chairmanship.”
